Sports Bras

Product name: “Fiona” Bra
Size: 36C
Colour: Black
Price: £30.99
Where you can get it: LessBounce.com
Where was it used: Gym, Netball, and Running

“I am in love with this bra as it is truly is comfortable, supportive and looks good. I used to wear a sports bra with a crop top over it. With this product I no longer need to do this. “Fiona” bra has all the support I need. It’s tight and secure – but not too tight. The shoulder straps are thick and don’t cut in to your skin and are easy to tighten as they are at the front of the bra. The bottom of the bra is supportive and about an inch thick so it does not ride up or leave red marks. It washes well and has kept its shape. It’s made of a quick dry fabric which is fabulous when you train and play as much as me (at least 3 times a week) as you can wash it and by the next morning it is dry. I would recommend the Fiona bra and have recommended this bra to my entire netball team. There is definitely less bounce!”

“This is a comfortable bra that may suit bigger busted ladies than me. It has a thick under strap for great support but the over the shoulder strap cannot be adjusted by yourself, you need to get someone to help you or you need to take the bra off to adjust the shoulder strap. On the back of the bra there are clasps and there is a pop stud to further lock in the support. The problem with this pop stud is that once you have the bra on, it is quite hard meet up the pop with the stud. The bra washed well and I would recommend the product to big busted girls.”

“The Cameo Sports Bra is a crop top style bra and according to the label, for my size, it’s suitable for all high impact sports, such as NetbalI. I like the feel of this bra as the material is soft but firm. It has internal seams at the front that gives you a nice shape and doesn’t flatten or squash your breasts like some sports bras do. The label says that the Cameo is made of a breathable fabric that takes away moisture and dries quickly. When I tried it out, it certainly seemed not to have that horrible cold, damp feeling you get when changing after a fast and energetic netball match. The wide straps made it really comfortable to wear and gave lots of additional control and support during the game. This bra is a great example of a plain and simple sports bra that has lots of hidden qualities”.

“With my small boobs – size 36A – I’ve never particularly taken much notice of what sports bra I wear. For years I bought 36B sports bras from M&S being blissfully unaware that I was buying the wrong size and the wrong type bra which alongside being too roomy, made my breasts look pointed. This bra has opened my eyes to the comfort provided by investing in a proper sports bra. Its soft, doesn’t rub anywhere and has kept its whiteness after 3 washes. It’s also quite feminine which is handy if you need to change tops during a game of netball. Recently I went out to umpire a 1st division Middlesex game and it took me 5 minutes to work out why I felt as if something was missing. I had a normal Wonderbra on, not this sports bra and I missed wearing this bra. Do be aware that the hook and eye on the back can be fiddly as is the bra being put on over the head but this is definitely my favourite sports bra ever!

“This bra is made with soft fabric and as it has protected seams on the inside, it is a really comfortable bra. It looks like a crop top bra from the front but for a sports bra it surprised me that it’s rather stylishly cut with a plunge neck line. It fastens on either side under the arms rather than at the back which makes it easier to take on and off. Previously I have purchased sports bras that have left red marks, particularly where the fasteners are – not this time. In the past I have worn two sports bras to stop unnecessary bounce but with this Shock Absorber bra I am completely supported and I only need to wear this bra. I about to by the white version!”

No hooks and eyes or clasps so it’s not fiddly although you need to ‘wriggle’ to get it on and off! I recently hurt my hand playing netball and couldn’t get this bra on nor off with one hand. “I really like the look of this bra. The light (removable) padding gives me a fabulous cleavage whilst still managing to give really firm support and control with hardly any bounce. On the label it says that it is made of “Meryl Actisystem High Performance fibres” which apparently give you exceptional comfort and freedom of movement and although I have no idea what this meant it certainly lived up to the description. The material is really soft, so there was none of the usual stiffness, rubbing or red marks that you can get with some sports bras. It also boasts quick drying fabrics which draw moisture away from the body, which did seem to make a difference when I was getting changed after a netball match, along with the handy hooks at the sides which made it easier to remove, there wasn’t that usual cold wet feeling you get after you’ve cooled down from a fast paced game of Netball. I was also impressed that it held its shape after it had been washed, especially the padding. I really liked this bra and would definitely recommend it to my netball friends”.

Where I used them: Gym, Netball, and Running

“I really like these shoes although I was sceptical at first as I have always worn a Nike air max shoe. However I’ve been pleasantly surprised as these shoes are great. I normally get sore feet when I first have new training shoes, but this only happened the first time I wore these. After playing netball in them once, they moulded to my feet straight away. They are a nice looking shoe with good arch support, even though I wear orthotics the support is still good. However a few of my netball team play in these shoes and say that sometimes the edge of the sole comes off. It’s a shame really because they are a great shoe otherwise. I would recommend this shoe to people playing either outside or inside”.

“I have small and wide feet and found that the Asics Netburner IGS 2 much narrower than my beloved Asics Gel Net Burner Professional II. I had to drop down to one thin pair of socks when I normally play in two to protect my feet and toes. Many netballers advise each to buy Asics in one size up, Perhaps I should have done even though Asics Netburner 3 fit perfectly in my right size.
When playing in these shoes I found less bounce in the sole than I was used to. I think the Asics Net Burner ISG II shoes are more suitable to umpire in and to wear in the gym for spin classes and the like. I’m now using these shoes to umpire in as I work towards my A umpiring award. Because of the speed I umpire at, side stepping most of the way, the thicker soles of the shoes I play in Asics Netburner 3 tend to catch and the outside sections of the sole become loose. The soles of these shoes seem to be holding well. One day I Asics will design a shoe for netball umpires and in the meantime I remain playing in Asics Gel Net Burner Professional III shoes and umpiring in Asics Net Burner ISG II”.

“What a great thing to have around the house, it lives in my spare room where I do a whole variety of exercises on it. The DVD that came with it shows a variety of different exercises that can be performed from the basic to the experienced gym ball user. One thing I would recommend is that you get the correct size for your height as there is no point having a ball that is the wrong size as it can prove difficult to perform the exercises. It is resistant to 250kg so you don’t need to worry about bursting it. The gym ball is designed to increase core stability strength and muscle control which are very important for good netball players. The only bad thing about the ball is pumping it up! The first time is a killer unless you can get your hands on an electronic pump”.

The ranges of tilt also mean you can increase the difficulty as you progress. All in all, I liked this product. “These bibs are a bit old school, particularly as teams are moving towards lycra kit with patch bibs, but they do a great job and can look smart for traditional bibs. These are the single sided bibs so are less flexible than the double sided and they do get ‘heavy’ in the rain. They are100% polyester so the velcro fasteners don’t stick to the bib and pull the material in the wash. They are a little stiff to start with but they are good quality and if washed at the right temperature they will last a long time”

We have had the bibs for a few years now and the letters have not peeled, the colours are still bright and the velcro fasteners still works. They come in a range of colours we tend to chose the ones to coincide with our team colours. The netball positions are very clear and easy to read. A disadvantage of these bibs is that they get heavy in the rain although a great advantage of these bibs is that if your opposing team is wearing a similar colour all you need to do is turn the bibs inside out!”

It means that they are not as thick or heavy as the double sided bibs but you cannot be versatile when playing opposition with the same colours on. The only problem I found with these bibs is that when washing them if you don’t fasten the velcro fasteners exactly in the right place i.e. covering all the fastener, the velco sticks to the bib and pulls at the mesh material then you have to untangle the bibs. Although they are lightweight, the cotton-mix material can get very wet on a warm day. Due to the extra material needed to make them double sided they can take quite a long time to dry, this can make them rather uncomfortable during an all-day summer tournament.
